Smokefree 2030 Ambition

Two years ago the Government set a goal of a ‘smoke-free’ England by 2030 in a new health prevention Green Paper.

The Government admits that this ambition is ‘extremely challenging’. The Green Paper says: “The gains in tobacco control have been hard-won, and there's still much to do”.

Smoking & Health 2021: A coming of age for tobacco control?

The pillars for comprehensive tobacco control were set out 60 years ago yet we still have unacceptable levels of tobacco related harm to health and tobacco related poverty in the UK. Having learnt ‘what works’ in tobacco control, our policy measures now need to mature to make smoking obsolete.

The NHS Long Term Plan: Improving access to tobacco dependence services

An update on the progress of delivering the NHS Long Term Plan tobacco dependence treatment services, including progress to date, response to COVID-19 and plans moving forward into 2021/22 and beyond.  There will also be some early learning from the early implementer sites.

The effect of vaping on smoking cessation

This presentation will provide a summary of the findings from the most recent Public Health England evidence review on vaping in England and will focus on current prevalence in adults and young people and how effective vaping is for smoking cessation.

This presentation focuses on the role of digital behaviour change technology within the NHS to maximise the reach of stop smoking services and support priority clinical groups in line with the NHS LTP

A GP federation partners with Quit Genius to deliver a Tier 2 digital smoking cessation service alongside the traditional model of delivery during the pandemic
