SCAH 2025In this paper, different approaches to supporting quit attempts are considered. Whilst abrupt quitting is the option offered to most smokers, a planned tailored approach, such as Cut Down to Stop, can be an effective way of engaging with clients and can increase the likelihood they might quit and/or re-engage with stop smoking services for future quit attempts. This paper looks at the key elements of Cut Down to Stop and considers the potential for this approach in helping to reduce the deep inequalities associated with smoking.
