Biography

Ruth is a Respiratory Consultant at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead and the Clinical Lead for Tobacco Dependency for the North East & North Cumbria ICS.  Ruth is joint chair of the North East Smokefree NHS / Treating tobacco dependency taskforce; the regional taskforce is a multi-disciplined group that was established as the delivery arm of the ICS to drive forward systematic treatment of tobacco dependency within the NHS and support the wider system approach to reducing smoking prevalence to 5% across all populations.
