Smokefree pregnancy and the Dorset model; supporting the pregnant smoker’s significant other to quit smoking as part of a holistic approach

The ‘Dorset’ Model was formed in 2019 to enable breaking down some of the barriers a pregnant mother quitting smoking faces when her significant other continues to smoke. Faye’s presentation will demonstrate how a quality improvement pilot to improve the quit environment for the pregnant smoker and create a smoke free home became BAU and spread across Dorset’s Smoking in Pregnancy Services.

Evaluation of the CPIT III smoking in pregnancy incentive trial

Lesley will talk about the phase III multi-centre randomised controlled trial CPIT III. CPIT III was set up to test the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of offering shopping voucher incentives to help pregnant women engage with stop smoking services and quit smoking. An insight into the challenges of conducting a pragmatic trial involving shopping voucher incentives and trial progress to date will be discussed.
